Marc Jacobs:
I have some very fond memories of watching my mother do her make up when she would go out on a date. I could sit there for hours and sort of watch her; she would choose her clothes and put her make up on. She took a piece of black velvet ribbon and she’d scrape it with a knife so that she could take the pile from the black velvet to make her lashes even thicker and clumpier. I just think the idea of transformation and creating this person that you want to be or show the world at any given time is part of human nature and the joy of being a woman or a man, or a person.
