On June 15, 2025, artist Kim Ye will join a panel of artists and curators at Compound in Long Beach, CA, for Postpartum Aesthetics in Art and Practice, a special symposium convened by exhibiting artist Fay Ray. The day-long event will include two panel discussions exploring the visual and material language of the postpartum experience, followed by an intimate dinner, Smoke, Seeds, Salt, and Space, hosted by Ray. Tickets for the Supper Club are on sale here.
The first panel, Postpartum Aesthetics in Art and Practice, features artists Fay Ray, Analia Saban, and Kim Ye in conversation, moderated by curator Cèsar García-Alvarez. The second, Curatorial Perspectives on Postpartum Aesthetics, brings together curators Grace Aneiza Ali and Laura Copelin, moderated by Compound’s curator Aj Girard. Both panels respond to Ray’s current solo exhibition Puerperal, on view through August 31, 2025. The show spans Compound’s 14,000-square-foot creative complex and includes Ray’s iconic monochromatic sculptures alongside newly commissioned work that probes the transformative and often invisible realities of the “fourth trimester.”
