On May 29th, 2025, a rough cut of The Sex Worker’s Guide to Parenting will be screened as part of the 8th day of programming at the San Francisco Bay Area Sex Worker Film and Arts Festival. The festival brings together filmmakers, artists, activists, and community members to spotlight the diverse and complex lives of sex workers through cinema and performance.
A Sex Worker’s Guide to Parenting is based on the publication ProMomme, curated by artist Kim Ye in collaboration with the Sex Workers Outreach Project – Los Angeles (SWOPLA). The film adaptation, like the book, centers the voices of sex worker-parents, offering an intimate look into how caregiving and criminalized labor intersect. Both the film and publication were made possible through funding from the California Arts Council’s Creative Corps initiative and Community Partners.
The screening will take place on Wednesday, May 29, 2025, at the Folsom Street Community Center in San Francisco, as part of the festival’s Day 8 programming, The Sacred & The Profane: Milfs, Mistresses, and The Mother(s) of Whores.
Also screening at the San Francisco Bay Area Sex Worker Film and Arts Festival are a diverse range of films by and about sex workers, including Last Whore Standing directed by Bambi Lake, Martha, Maybe by Angelica Ross, The Exchange by Cinnamon Maxxine, Sex, Lies, and Red Tape by Rachel Wotton, Supernova: The Music Festival Massacre by Daisy Ducati, and The Gift by Miss Honey Pink.
