“ProMomme: The Rawest Magazine We’ve Ever Seen”

In September 2026, Kim Ye was featured in L.A. TACO in an article by Lauren Bethke titled “ProMomme: A Sex Worker’s Guide to Parenting” Is the Rawest Magazine We’ve Ever Seen. The article features Ye’s documentary and magazine project, ProMomme: A Sex Worker’s Guide to Parenting, which explores what it’s like to raise children while working in the sex industry.

The article traces the origins of the ProMomme zine to Ye’s work with Sex Workers Outreach Project Los Angeles (SWOPLA). As part of SWOPLA’s sex worker-led research, Ye and her collaborators facilitated focus groups with parents doing sex work, discussing how sex work and parenting informed each other and what a parenting magazine for sex workers might look like.

ProMomme: A Sex Worker’s Guide to Parenting – Vol. 2 includes essays, poems, photographs, and a transcription of the group interview from Ye’s documentary. The article also discusses The Sex Worker’s Guide to Parenting, a documentary featuring six parents working in the sex industry, alongside Dr. Kimberly Fuentes of SWOPLA and Sophia Coleman, the zine’s graphic designer.

The feature discusses the relationship between the magazine and film, and Ye’s interest in creating “durable change” by having people hear these stories repeatedly and in different formats. The Sex Worker’s Guide to Parenting is currently being considered by festivals for 2027.
